Alcott HR is pleased to announce the appointment of Peter Rothman, CPA, CITP as Chief Information Officer. According to Alcott HR founders President Lou Basso and Executive Vice President Barry Shorten, the decision to hire the organization’s first CIO was an appropriate next step in the company’s steady growth and expansion both in the states and abroad, and commitment to the highest standards of customer service and business performance. Peter brings over two decades of senior-level information technology (IT) experience, a strong proficiency in all aspects of business processes, and the strategic leveraging of IT to advance core goals relating to customer service, communications, finance, marketing and sales.
Directly prior to joining Alcott HR, Peter, a Certified Information Technology Professional and Certified Public Accountant, served as Chief Technology Officer at Merisel Americas, Inc. His accomplishments while at Merisel included many firsts such as establishing and implementing the company’s first strategic IT plan, CRM system and online digital and ecommerce strategy. Additionally, he is credited with the consolidation and re-implementation of the company’s ERP systems, a successful business process reengineering initiative, and reduction of the company’s overall technology footprint and related costs by leveraging server virtualization and cloud technologies.
In addition to his role at Merisel, Peter served as Vice President, Consulting Services for IDP Consulting, LLC, where he enhanced the firm’s managed service client relationships by offering strategic technology advisory services. He also served as Managing Director of digitalpaperwork, LLC , Vice President and CIO at MDC Partners, Inc. and Director of Corporate MIS for Volt Information Sciences, Inc. Additionally, and before transitioning to the IT field, Peter served as a Senior Accountant with David Berdon.
Peter holds a Bachelor of Science in Management from Tulane University’s A.B. Freeman School of Business. An active member of the IT profession, he serves on the Board of Directors of the Long Island Forum for Technology (LIFT), as well as a member of LIFT’s Executive Committee and Chairperson of LIFT’s IT Committee. His other professional affiliations include that of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants.
Peter is a past Treasurer and member of the Board of Directors of the Suffolk Coalition to Prevent Alcohol and Drug Dependencies, Big Brothers Big Sisters Presidential Gala Committee Member, LIU Post College of Accounting Advisory Board Member, Tulane Alumni Association – Long Island Recruiter, and President of the Board of Directors of the Long Island Information Systems Management Association.
Peter’s professional contributions and achievements have been recognized with such honors as the 2012 Bronze Winner, Stevie Award for Technology Executive of the Year, American Business Awards; 2009 Valedictorian of the 2003 Long Island Business News’ 40 under 40 Class and 2003 recipient of the Long Island Business News’ 40 under 40 Award.
