The Western Division of The Alcott Group (Farmingdale, NY and Buffalo, NY), one of New York State's most prominent Professional Employer Organizations (PEO), recently held a seminar for Buffalo, New York area not-for-profit organizations on the subject of Human Resources Outsourcing and how it can benefit them. The program, in which Alcott's Professional Employment Advisor John H. Bradley presented, provided executives of not-for-profits, along with their board members and financial officers, the opportunity to learn how HR outsourcing addresses the many complexities they face as employers. The well-attended breakfast seminar was held at the Jacobs Executive Development Center.
Specifically, Mr. Bradley discussed the many benefits NFPs can expect to derive from HR outsourcing, including: more time to focus on their core mission, improved employee benefits and the resulting improved employee morale, retention and recruitment, as well as, employee benefits cost-containment, and perhaps most importantly, the ability to limit employer liabilities in today's litigious society.
According to Michael LaMancuso, president of Alcott's Western Division, "Not-for-profit organizations face the same challenges that for profit businesses do with respect to managing workplace risks ranging from discrimination and sexual harassment claims to wrongful discharge. In addition, in their efforts to keep their overhead down, many of charitable organizations do not have full time HR personnel. The combination of managing risks, while also affording important benefits to both Management and staff, makes HR outsourcing an ideal tool for not-for-profits."
Alcott as a PEO is a provider of HR outsourcing services. Currently, the company's client roster includes many not-for-profits ranging from the Community Health Foundation, WNY United Against Drug & Alcohol Abuse and the Community Foundation of Greater Buffalo to the West Side Rowing Club, Long Island Forum for Technology, Harry Chapin Foundation, Central Nassau Guidance & Counseling Services, Long Island Community Foundation, American Friends, Department of Occupational Resources, Erase Racism, Horace Hagedorn Foundation, Long Island Museum of Science and Technology and Pave the Way Foundation.
